Tour Plan

Day 1: Arrival in Luang Prabang (D)
Upon arrival you will be met & transferred to hotel for check-in and tour briefing. Time permitting we’ll take an orientation tour before welcome dinner.

Day 2: Luang Prabang (B)
This morning we tour the city’s oldest temple Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping down to the ground. Visit the Royal Palace Museum that exhibits various objects from the last royal family. We then embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River to the mysterious Pak Ou, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by devoted pilgrims. We also visit Ban Phanom village of skilled hand-weaving women. Drive back to town to conquer Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view. Later we explore the iridescent Night Market and admire a lovely selection of handicrafts.

Day 3: Luang Prabang (B)
Early rise to take the fantastic opportunity to watch or participate in the unique daily morning ritual, where hundreds of saffron-clad monks walk in procession collecting offerings of sticky rice from devout residents along the roadside. Today we’ll visit some villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay, Ban Ou and Ban Thapene. Continue to the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall where there’s a chance to cool off in the turquoise pools or to walk along the forest trails. Visit Ban Xangkhong, the village well known for making jute paper, before returning to town.

Day 4: Luang Prabang – Pakse –Tadlo (B)
This morning we fly to Pakse, and then take a 4WD up the Boloven Plateau towards Tadlo. The trip provides a refreshing break from the heat and allows us to observe the cultivation of coffee, tea, cardamom, bananas, and other crops en route. We’ll venture off the beaten tracks to discover some of the lesser-known areas of Laos. After Tadlo waterfall, we’ll visit the villages of Alak, Nge, and Katu, populated by hill tribe people.

Day 5: Tadlo -Don Khone Island (B)
Today we travel southwards to Champassak to visit the fascinating Wat Phu, one of the two UNESCO World Heritages of Laos. Wat Phu is adorned with many intriguing pre-Angkor ruins that perch high on Mount Phu Kao. Later we journey to Don Khone, the largest island in the South Mekong River region known as the 4000 islands, one of the most scenic areas in Laos.

Day 6: Don Khone Island & Surrounding (B)
The best known attraction of Don Khone is an array of relics from the French era, including remnants of the first railway in Laos. After all those colonial attractions, we take a boat to the Liphi waterfall that marks the border with Cambodia. If lucky, we may come across some of the rare freshwater Irrawaddy Mekong dolphin at Ban Hang Khone. Visit another famous waterfall Khone Phapeng - the largest one in South East Asia.

Day 7: Don Khone Island - Pakse (B)
We journey back to Pakse, stopping en route to learn more about local life. Back in Pakse around noon and enjoy rest of the day at leisure.

Day 8: Pakse - Vientiane (B)
We take morning flight to Vientiane, the sleepy capitol of Laos. This afternoon we visit some of the highlights of Vientiane. First, visit Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple in the city, and home to thousands of miniature Buddha statues. Next, visit Wat Phra Kaew, the former royal temple that housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image, and Phra That Luang, which represents a lotus bud and is used as a symbol of the Lao nation. We will also visit Patousay, Vientiane’s very own Arc of Triumph. Get the feel of true local life with a visit to Talad Sao, the Central Market of Vientiane.

Day 9: Vientiane (B)
This morning we visit one of Laos’s slightly stranger attractions – the Buddha Park. Built in 1958 this riverside park is the site of a large collection of Buddhist and Hindu Sculptures. En route, take a look at the impressive Friendship Bridge and the National Cultural Park. The rest of the day will be free.

Day 10: Departure (B)
Free till transfer to the airport for departure flight
