Tour Plan

Day 1: Hanoi – Ba Be – Cho Ra (L, D)
Leave the city for Ba Be National Park via lush mountains and karst scenery. Stop in Thai Nguyen to visit the Museum of Ethnology for an introduction to local hill tribes. Overnight in Cho Ra.

Day 2: Ba Be – Trekking (B, L, D)
Riverboat along the Nang River to the 300-m Puong Cave, then trek through forests, terraced paddies, and Dzao villages in their traditional dress. Overnight guesthouse in Ban Cao Thuong. 5–6 km, moderate, two climbs with some loose terrain.

Day 3: Ba Be – Homestay in Tay Village (B, L, D)
Descend through primeval rainforest to the valley, boat to Dau Dang Waterfall, cross Ba Be Lake, and continue on foot to a Tay village for an authentic stilt-house homestay. 7–8 km (~3 hrs) with some challenging sections.

Day 4: Ba Be – Cao Bang (B, L, D)
Walk the lakeshore to the park gate, then drive to Cao Bang. Afternoon trek from Ma Phuc Pass to Thang Hen Lake with expansive karst views. 12 km (~3 hrs)

Day 5: Cao Bang – Ta Lung – La Village Homestay (B, L, D)
Scenic drive toward the Chinese border with a stop at a blacksmith village. After lunch in Ta Lung, trek through lush jungle and karst valleys to a small village homestay.

Day 6: La Village – Dong Khe – That Khe – Lang Son (B, L, D)
Morning walk to Dong Khe local market. Continue by road to Lang Son and enjoy a bamboo raft ride along the Ky Cung River on the NE border.

Day 7: Lang Son – Halong Bay (B, L, D)
Drive on the new highway to Halong. Board a beautiful wooden junk for a 24-hour cruise among limestone islands. Activities include kayaking and swimming. Overnight on board.

Day 8: Halong Bay – Hanoi (B, L)
Sunrise coffee and breakfast while cruising past iconic rock formations. Disembark ~11:00 and return to Hanoi.
